Boise woman is nation’s first female tank crew member
Sgt. 1st Class Erin Smith graduated last week from the 15-week U.S. Army’s M1 Armor Crewman School, which took place at a Boise training facility. The training became possible after Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced in December that all U.S. military positions would be opened to women. The Idaho Army National Guard hopes Smith’s example will lead other women to join the Guard.
