Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) regrets to inform you that the Idaho State Veterans Home – Boise (ISVH-Boise) has experienced its first COVID-19 related death.

The next IVAC meeting will be on July 14, 2020 at 8:00 am MDT via a virtual meeting room on Microsoft Teams. If you would like to attend, please email Mitzi Cheldelin at mitzi.cheldelin@veterans.idaho.gov for a link.

IDVS has received a federal grant to retrofit our State Veterans Homes to better serve our residents and their families during infectious disease outbreaks, such as COVID-19.

To reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus and comply with federal, state, and local rules and guidance of limited gathering sizes and large venues the difficult decision was made to cancel this year's ceremony at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery – Boise as a condition of continued public safety.

Look upward to the Idaho sky tomorrow morning (Friday, May 15th). The Idaho National Guard and the Mountain Home Air Force Base Gunfighters are teaming up to perform a flyover of 11 Southern Idaho cities with two 124th Fighter Wing A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and two F-15Es in honor of Idaho's medical workers, first responders and all essential workers. Currently the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise is open for burial and visitation by the public.

Walk-in service at the Office of Veterans Advocacy (OVA) is suspended indefinitely. Service Officers will still be conducting business remotely. Veterans can contact a service officer by calling the OVA or emailing their Service Officer directly.

Walk-in service at the Veterans Education Office is suspended indefinitely. Education staff will be working remotely. Veterans that need assistance can still contact the Education Office.

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus outbreak COVID-19, the next IVAC meeting, previously scheduled for April 15, 2020 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston, has been cancelled.

The Veterans Property Tax Reduction benefit reduces property taxes for qualified 100% service-connected disabled veterans.

The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed construction and operation of a 64-bed State Veterans Home in Post Falls, ID is now available for review and public comment.

The Idaho Division of Veteran Services will coordinate an all-expenses-paid deer or elk hunt for two disabled Idaho Veterans in 2020. The purpose of the hunt is to offer disabled Veterans (with a 40% Service-Connected Disability Rating or higher) an opportunity to participate in a big-game hunt when they might otherwise be prevented from doing so by the seriousness of their disability. To be eligible for this hunt you must be a resident of Idaho and have a disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Idaho Division of Veterans Services has been notified that Idaho will receive a grant opportunity in federal FY 2019 to establish a fourth State Veterans Home in Post Falls, Idaho. The other three State Veterans Homes are in Boise, Pocatello, and Lewiston.
