Public Records Requests
Idaho Public Records Act
The Idaho Public Records Law states that “all records maintained by state and local government entities be available for public access and copying.” At the same time, Idaho recognizes the need to balance the policy of openness against the equally important need for privacy of certain information provided by citizens and businesses that is necessary for the government’s business.
Idaho Public Records Act, Idaho Code §74-101 through §74-127
Fees
- No fee shall be charged for the first two (2) hours of labor in responding to a request for public records, or for copying the first one hundred (100) pages of paper records that are requested. Requests that require more than two (2) hours of labor, require more than 100 pages of paper record, or a request that requires records from which information must be redacted, may be charged the actual labor, and copying costs associated with fulfilling the request.

Timeframe
All requests for public records will be granted or denied within three (3) working days from the date a request is received.
